“I would walk along the quais when I had finished work or when I was trying to think something out. It was easier to think if I was walking and doing something or seeing people doing something they understood.”
            - Ernest Hemingway

Hemingway walked because he was a true islander. He knew that with 12 months a year of sunny weather, and so much to see and do, Key West is best enjoyed on foot. Sure, a lot has changed since those days, but one thing is still as true as ever – our little corner of paradise is made for walking.

Key West is only 4 miles by 2 miles. So with a good pair of walking shoes or a sturdy pair of flip-flops, nothing is really out of reach. Stroll up and down Duval Street (and, perhaps, make a few pub stops along the way). Or, wander into our cozy neighborhoods and side streets where the great history and architecture of Key West is revealed in sunny splendor.

We’ve even made it easy to get around Key West with a series of handy walking maps and carefree walking tours.
